The Barzan Tower landmark is located in the village of Umm Salal Mohammed, 20 km to the north of Doha. The landmark consists of two main towers, distinguished by their height of 14 meters. The western tower has a shape resembling the English letter T, while the eastern tower takes a rectangular form. The towers were built in the early twentieth century by Sheikh Mohammed bin Jassim Al Thani for the purpose of monitoring the area and protecting the wells and farms.
It is among the most prominent landmarks of Qatari heritage, distinguished by its architectural design, unique in the Gulf region.
The Barzan Towers underwent comprehensive restoration work in 2014 and have now become part of a public park, making them an international tourist destination.
