It was originally an administrative building among the buildings of the Ma'an railway station, built in 1908. Prince Abdullah used it when he came to Ma'an on 21 November 1920 as deputy for his brother Faisal I «King of Syria» to work on the liberation of the Syrian territories after the events of the Battle of Maysalun. This building became a command and administration center, and His Majesty named it «the National Defense Center», and from it the journey of founding the Jordanian state began on 28 February 1921 towards Amman.
A building dating back to the beginning of the twentieth century, located 3 km south of the city of Ma'an, it is considered one of the archaeological sites in Jordan, after Prince Abdullah bin Al-Hussein took it as his headquarters during his arrival from the Hijaz on 21 November 1920. Decisions were taken in it that were the cornerstone in establishing the history of modern Jordan, and the palace has been converted into a museum.
