ALECSO Strategy for Developing Creativity and Innovation

Activity idea

  • ALECSO is moving with steady steps to fulfil the mission for which it was established and to achieve its objectives, to enable intellectual unity among the Arab states, to advance the means of educational, intellectual and cultural development, to form future visions for elevating the fields of higher education and scientific research and developing their policies, and to strengthen scientific research methodologies and develop its research programmes.
  • As part of these efforts and in fulfilment of the objectives of the Arab Strategy for Scientific and Technological Research and Innovation adopted by the Twenty-Eighth (28th) Arab Summit, ALECSO's initiative to prepare the "ALECSO Strategy for Developing Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Higher Education Institutions in the Arab States" comes in implementation of the eighth policy of that strategy, titled: "Strengthening the role of universities and higher education institutions, and cooperation among Arab institutions working in the field of research, development and innovation", and mechanism 74.7 within that policy, in which ALECSO is called upon as an implementing body to prepare a strategy for developing creativity and innovation in higher education institutions in the Arab states. In implementation of the recommendation of the tenth session of the ALECSO Forum for Scientific Research and Sustainable Development, under the title: "The High-Level Meeting of Heads of Scientific Research Bodies, Institutions and Councils in the Arab States", titled "Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Arab University and Scientific Communities: Towards Exchanging and Strengthening Experiences", held at ALECSO's premises on 11-12 September 2024, the general framework was prepared for the project "The General Framework of the ALECSO Strategy for Developing Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Higher Education Institutions in the Arab States", with contributions from a select group of Arab experts and Arab and expatriate minds participating in the forum. ALECSO presented it to Their Excellencies the Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Arab states at their Nineteenth (19th) Conference held in the United Arab Emirates in November 2024, in the United Arab Emirates, and a recommendation was issued at the conference endorsing and welcoming it and inviting ALECSO to move forward with implementing the strategy so that it may be used as guidance in Arab higher education institutions.
Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) is the mother of specialized Arab organizations and the oldest. It was established on July 25, 1970, following the approval of the Arab Cultural Unity Charter in Baghdad in April 1964.
