In line with the general objectives of the Arab Strategy for Scientific Research and Innovation, and in order to strengthen cooperation among research institutions in the Arab world and the world to activate their role in helping Arab countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by the year 2030, especially in the face of the challenges and changes they face, which can be addressed through the efforts of Arab scientific research institutions, bodies and centres that carry out major work to confront those challenges.
In appreciation and celebration of Arab scientific performance, the idea arose to implement the activity known as the ALECSO List for Arab Scientific Research Institutions. In order to include those research institutions on that list, ALECSO sets several conditions and criteria for the list, which the Organization announces over a renewable period of two years. Among the most important of these is that the institutions listed be Arab scientific research institutions rich in scientific output of added value, playing an effective role in solving the problems facing the Arab world in various vital fields.
Not only that, but when a particular scientific research institution is included on the ALECSO List for Arab Scientific Research Institutions, it means that the institution has been selected as a scientific institution that should be supported and have its performance enhanced to carry out scientific research, so that ALECSO's role is also embodied in encouraging the responsible bodies at the Arab and international levels to stimulate this institution and support it technically and financially in appreciation of its efforts in developing scientific research, which likewise strengthens international cooperation, kindles a spirit of competition among Arab scientific institutions, and opens up horizons for cooperation between Arab and international scientific research institutions and bodies.
