As a preliminary step towards shaping a shared Arab vision on evaluation indicators, and in ALECSO's endeavour to contribute to establishing Arab indicators for ranking Arab universities and removing the obstacles facing them, several technical steps have been carried out since 2018, culminating in the launch of the Arab University Ranking 2021, whereby a Board of Directors for the ranking was established, along with the creation of the Policies and Planning Unit at ALECSO headquarters (a unit of a scientific nature under the supervision and patronage of His Excellency the Director-General, technically supervised by the competent department / the Department of Science and Scientific Research). The activity aims to stimulate the Arab University Ranking and Arab universities to enter the arena of international competition and improve their outputs by relying on a selected set of international standards consistent with the reality of the Arab environment.
