Activity Concept

Engaging in the knowledge economy and catching up with countries that are advanced in knowledge and economic terms requires expanding the educational offering and improving its quality at all levels. However, this noble goal often collides with the obstacle of the massive investments required by projects to expand and generalize the educational offering, and the significant human and financial resources this entails, especially in developing countries and those on the path to development. This reality has led world universities and international institutions concerned with education, such as Carnegie University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mellon, Harvard, Berkeley, Japan's Keio, Paris Tech and the University of the Western Cape in South Africa… in addition to many countries around the world, to adopt what are known as Open Educational Resources.

The use of open educational resources contributes to building Arab capacities and competencies, particularly those capable of the effective use of technology. Their use is considered one of the most important recommendations issued by regional and international organizations, institutions and specialized forums, owing to their key role in facilitating and managing access to educational content, developing capacities, and supporting the quality of lifelong education and learning in the service of sustainable development and the building of a knowledge society for all. To keep pace with these trends and to enable teachers and all users in the Arab world, including persons with disabilities, to reach and access open educational resources, use them, benefit from them and develop their capacities in this field,
