Within the framework of a program aimed at promoting a culture of coding, innovation, digital creativity, and entrepreneurship among young people in the Arab world, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) launched the Arab Coding Week event. This week is the largest annual Arab digital event, comprising several competitions similar to the European Code Week and the Africa Code Week. It aims to spread the culture of coding in the Arab world, and to help teachers and students strengthen their capacities in modern technologies and electronic programming, while providing an educational environment in an enjoyable and easy manner that helps teach the basics of coding by engaging them in exciting and enjoyable software competitions and giving them broad horizons to explore new specializations and acquire the scientific skills that enhance creativity and excellence in the fields of technology, science, mathematics, engineering, and the arts, in line with the global STEAM approach.
The main idea of the Arab Coding Week is to select, at the beginning of each year, the theme of the round that the competitors will compete on, and to launch numerous free training courses for teachers and students on several software tools to qualify them and provide them with the necessary expertise to participate in the competitions with the best possible performance. The date of the week that will host the events of this gathering, from virtual scientific seminars to awareness campaigns in schools, is also set, and it is titled the Arab Coding Week.
