Cultural exhibitions are a space for presenting ideas and creations in various fields and human interests. They constitute the civilisational facade of nations and peoples and express the level of cultural awareness of societies. The themes of these exhibitions are numerous, ranging from heritage exhibitions to visual arts such as plastic art, photography and others... to other arts linked to the developments of human reality and addressing current issues. In the face of rising levels of interest in environmental issues, whose features are numerous such as global warming, the aggravation of the quantity of waste and other phenomena... many forms of expression have emerged that highlight this reality and attempt to find appropriate solutions to it.
Since art is a medium for the artist to express their emotions and a reflection of what they observe in nature, it has become necessary to consider addressing these themes, treating them and raising awareness of them through all means and fields, including cultural and artistic ones. In this context, artistic movements based on recycling have emerged, combining creativity and recycling, by relying on discarded materials and creating new artworks using these materials.
Within the framework of the openness of its cultural policy to environmental issues, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) takes an interest in these artistic movements, and intends to organise artistic exhibitions concerned with creativity in relation to recycling, as part of its involvement in the human movement to raise awareness of environmental issues.
