As part of the concern for enshrining the human and natural right of access to knowledge for people with special needs, and in implementation of the Marrakesh Treaty, which enables access to published works for the benefit of blind and visually impaired persons and the creation of accessible copies of books and other works protected by copyright for this category, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) seeks to support public libraries with works printed in Braille by allocating dedicated support for printing a number of titles agreed upon with the cooperating party. This initiative comes within ALECSO's concerns to enhance the participation of people with special needs in cultural life, to give them due care, and to recognize their natural right to benefit from cultural products on an equal footing with others.
