Rapid technological progress and the spread of the internet have led to radical changes in our daily lives, as the use of technology and digital media has had a major impact on many aspects of our social, cultural and consumption life. People have come to rely almost entirely on these digital innovations for communication, education, job searching, shopping, travel and financial transactions, as well as searching for information and keeping up with news and developments. From here emerges the importance of digital culture in providing the individual with the basic knowledge and skills to interact and deal with digital technology and digital media effectively, consciously and safely. In addition to the importance of electronic media in expanding the scope of publishing and communication, enabling individuals to express their opinions and viewpoints more broadly and with greater freedom and responsibility, and providing quick and comprehensive access to information with complete security and reliability.
In this context, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) seeks to raise the awareness of individuals and institutions in the Arab world about the importance of acquiring the basic skills in the field of digital culture and electronic media in order to deal with digital technology safely and effectively, and to be able to understand and evaluate information and digital content, and to take the necessary measures to protect their privacy and digital security while interacting with this technology.
