The International Forum on Artificial Intelligence and Its Applications in Education and Learning, organized by ALECSO in partnership with the Tunisian Ministry of Education and the Tunisian National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture, took place on February 11-13, 2025, at the headquarters of the International Center for Training of Trainers and Pedagogical Innovation.

The opening session  was attended by H.E. Mr. Noureddine Nouri, Tunisian Minister of Education, Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT at ALECSO, Mr. Zakaria Dassi, Director-General of the International Center for Training of Trainers and Pedagogical Innovation, and Mr. Issam Louhichi, Secretary-General of the Tunisian National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture.

Speaking on behalf of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, Dr. Mohamed Jemni noted that this Forum is being held in a context of rapid technological transformations, with artificial intelligence having become one of the main drivers reshaping educational systems, while at the same time presenting unprecedented challenges and opportunities. AI, he added, is no longer a mere technological tool, but has now become a key element in supporting personalized learning, empowering teachers, ensuring equity in educational opportunities, and fostering creativity and innovation in classrooms.

Dr. Jemni emphasized the commitment of ALECSO, as the leading Arab regional organization in the fields of education, culture, and science, to supporting Arab countries in developing policies and strategies that promote the safe and responsible use of AI in education. He reviewed, in this regard, some of the relevant programs and projects currently undertaken by ALECSO, including, the Arab Code Week, the AI Teacher Training Project, the Project for the Promotion of OER in Arabic, and the ALECSO Charter on AI Ethics.

The Forum aims to train teachers and inspectors in AI tools for education. It provides an opportunity to explore AI-related concepts, mechanisms, opportunities, and ways of ensuring equal access to this technology, while also addressing the protection of privacy and personal data for both teachers and students.
