The Institute of Arabic Manuscripts organized a training workshop on 26-27/04/2026, under the supervision of Dr Musa Abd Darb Al-Jabouri, Director of the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts, a training workshop on (Inks in the Arabic manuscript: from the traditions of manufacture to techniques of conservation).
This training workshop comes within the framework of the Institute's scientific activities aimed at enhancing skills in the field of the conservation and restoration of Arabic manuscripts, with the participation of a select group of specialized professors. The training workshop covered a theoretical introduction to the making of inks in heritage, the study of carbon inks and carbonaceous inks, metallic gall inks, coloured inks and dyes in Arab heritage.
The workshop concluded with an applied scientific session in which the trainees made inks under the supervision of the specialized professors.
27 researchers (male and female) participated in the training workshop (in person and remotely) from seven countries, namely the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Tunisia, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Sudan, the Republic of Iraq, the Arab Republic of Egypt and Canada.
