The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) organized, in collaboration with the Moroccan National Commission for Education, Culture and Science and Hassan II University, a training workshop on “E-learning and Smart Education Methods in Universities”. The workshop was held on January 7–8, 2026 at the headquarters of Hassan II University in Casablanca, Morocco.

The First Day of the Workshop was attended by Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT at ALECSO, Dr. Anass Kettani, Vice-President of Hassan II University, and Dr. Karim Hamidouche, Acting Secretary-General of the Moroccan National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, along with 40 participants from various educational and academic institutions.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Jemni conveyed the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO. He emphasized the Organization’s commitment to supporting Member States in keeping pace with digital transformation and strengthening the capacities of education professionals. He highlighted the growing role of e-learning and smart education in advancing the educational process through the use of modern technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and data analytics.

Dr. Anass Kettani underscored the importance of e-learning in establishing interactive learning models that contribute to skills development and creativity, while Dr. Karim Hamidouche commended ALECSO’s efforts in organizing high-quality training activities in the field of ICT.

The workshop program included scientific presentations on ALECSO’s projects in digital transformation and artificial intelligence, including the Arab Reference Framework for Digital Transformation in Education, the Skills for Innovation (SFI) project, and the Charter on AI Ethics. 

The workshop featured sessions on e-learning that addressed its challenges and future prospects, while also focusing on the practical aspects of big data analysis and the use of AI to improve the quality of university education.
