ALECSO Statement on “International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People”

On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, observed annually on November 29th, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) reaffirms its strong commitment to supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and renews its firm position calling for compliance with international law and with UN resolutions related to the Palestinian Cause.

ALECSO expresses its deep concern over the escalating tensions and the accompanying violations affecting Palestinian civilians and infrastructures, including educational and cultural institutions, which undermine the foundations of development and threaten the security of the Palestinian people. ALECSO stresses that protecting civilians, safeguarding the right to education, and preserving Palestinian cultural heritage are shared international responsibilities that require all relevant parties to fulfill their humanitarian and legal obligations.

ALECSO takes this opportunity to call on the international community to pursue efforts toward providing a secure environment enabling Palestinians to exercise their fundamental rights, foremost among them the right to live in dignity, the right to education, and the right to self-determination. It emphasizes the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts and supporting international initiatives aimed at achieving de-escalation and opening prospects for a peaceful, just, and lasting solution based on agreed international terms of reference. This would ultimately lead to ending the occupation and establishing the independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

ALECSO emphasizes that solidarity with the Palestinian people is a moral and humanitarian commitment, and that commemorating this occasion involves a renewed call to promote dialogue, uphold the rule of law, and unify efforts to alleviate human suffering and support the process of peace and development in the region.

ALECSO reaffirms its continued readiness to work with regional and international partners to promote the values of justice and peace, and contribute to all efforts aimed at protecting the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent State on their land, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
