On Sunday, October 26, 2025, the activities of the Forum for Young Researchers in the Arab World were opened in the Qatari capital, Doha. On the topic of youth empowerment and its role in the sustainability of Arab cultural heritage, in cooperation between the Qatar Museums Authority and the Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), within the activities of the twenty-seventh session of the Conference on Antiquities and Cultural Heritage in the Arab World; During the period from 26 to 30 October 2025. The forum is primarily concerned with exchanging experiences between participating young researchers from various Arab countries, in the presence of an elite group of officials, experts and specialists in heritage affairs. The forum will also produce a youth declaration (Doha Youth Declaration 2025), which reflects a new youth vision for the sustainability of Arab cultural heritage in light of the contemporary contexts surrounded by its dangers and challenges. It will be presented at the opening session of the Conference on Antiquities and Cultural Heritage in the Arab World. The opening session featured a speech by His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Saeed Al Rumaihi, CEO of the Qatar Museums Authority, in which he pointed out the importance of the State of Qatar hosting this important cultural event, noting that this forum comes in the context of strengthening Arab youth’s relationship with their heritage and involving them in formulating policies for its sustainability and preservation, in addition to discussing innovative solutions to the challenges facing this vital sector. In turn, His Excellency Professor Dr. Mohamed Ould Omar, Director General of ALECSO, explained in his speech on the occasion that this forum represents a special cultural and scientific event, not only concerned with the exchange of experiences in the field of cultural heritage sustainability and its challenges, but also in addition to that, it represents an inspiring cultural experience and a distinguished journey of thought, in addition to the fact that it will pave the way for young people and researchers to be real partners and actors, through the ideas, proposals and studies they will present. Prospects for the future of cultural heritage and the new roles of young people in shaping and preserving it, explaining in the same context that sustainability by its nature refers to the future, and that the future, with its ambiguity, is determined by the management of insightful and aware youth and the dangers and challenges that threaten its methods. At the end of his speech, His Excellency also referred to ALECSO’s tireless efforts to protect heritage in general and in relation to youth in particular, as in this context ALECSO organized the first forum for young researchers in the Arab world in 2024. The Forum’s activities will continue throughout the year.
