The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), represented by its Director-General H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, extends its warmest congratulations to H.E. Dr. Khaled El-Enany on his well-deserved election by the Executive Board, on October 6, 2025, as Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

This victory fills us with pride, as it comes to crown an outstanding academic and professional career marked by dedication and achievement. It also constitutes a new milestone in the Arab contribution to the advancement of human civilization. 

Dr. El-Enany has made a notable impact in the fields of heritage preservation and cultural dialogue, embodying the highest values embraced by UNESCO and its mission of building peace through culture and knowledge.

This resounding success—gained by securing 55 votes against only two for the Congolese candidate Firmin Matoko—reflects the high international esteem in which Dr. El-Enany is held, and is a clear recognition of his proven competence and deep commitment to UNESCO’s mandate in the educational, cultural and scientific fields.

ALECSO expresses its full confidence that Dr. Khaled El-Enany will lead UNESCO into a new era of prominence and influence, one that will strengthen the values of peace, dialogue, and protection of shared human heritage, while opening up promising prospects for international cooperation in education, culture, and scientific research.
