The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ICT Department) held, on October 2-3, 2025 in collaboration with the Lebanese Ministry of Culture and the Lebanese National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, a training workshop on “Methods for Analyzing Educational Data and Statistical Indicators to Support Decision-making”.

The workshop opened with welcome remarks by Ms. Ramza Jaber, Deputy Secretary-General of the Lebanese National Commission, on behalf of the Secretary-General Ms. Amira Al-Solh. She emphasized the Commission’s commitment to engaging with ALECSO’s initiatives in terms of expertise-sharing and skill enhancement.

Dr. Ali Al-Samad, Director-General of the Lebanese Ministry of Culture, delivered a speech on behalf of H.E. Dr. Ghassan Salameh, Minister of Culture, in which he commended ALECSO’s vital role in promoting Arab expertise-sharing and strengthening joint Arab action. He highlighted the importance of holding more seminars and workshops to advance Arab competencies.

Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT at ALECSO, spoke on behalf of Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO. He reaffirmed ALECSO’s commitment to launching pioneering projects in Arab countries and enhancing Arab capacities in digital transformation. He stressed that “data analysis is not an intellectual luxury, but rather a vital tool for designing effective, evidence-based educational policies and strategies.”

The workshop was attended by 48 participants specialized in educational, social, and health statistics. It featured scientific lectures highlighting ALECSO’s projects to promote digital transformation in Arab States and the role of the ALECSO Observatory in collecting and analyzing educational data and indicators, and their significance in informing public policies and achieving sustainable development goals.
