“Project Evaluation and Economic Feasibility Study,” the new publication of the Arab Center for Arabization, Translation, Authorship and Publishing in Damascus.

The Arab Center for Arabization, Translation, Authorship and Publishing has issued a recent reference entitled Project Appraisal and Feasibility Study prepared by: Dr. Alaa Akram Baraka and Dr. Haitham Ahmed Issa. It is 416 pages long, and this publication falls within the framework of the Center’s persistent and ongoing efforts to spread specialized economic culture and its tireless work to support academic education in general and economic education in particular and to appreciate and encourage the efforts of researchers. The importance of the scope of this book is represented in the most important aspects: - Adopting project evaluation and economic feasibility studies as teaching courses in colleges and higher institutes in the specialization of economics, business administration, and other related specializations. - Increasing numbers of institutions specialized in preparing economic feasibility studies and expanding the level and scope of their work. - The increasing trend of governments in adopting the economic feasibility study as part of the legal requirements for licensing private projects and considering it a binding condition. - Including international financial and non-financial institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund as a requirement to prepare an economic feasibility study for the projects that are submitted to them for financing. The book is presented in eight chapters. The first provided a comprehensive introduction, the second included a theoretical foundation for the economic feasibility study, the third dealt with the marketing feasibility study, the fourth explained the technical feasibility study, the fifth focused on the financial feasibility study, while the sixth dealt with the economic, social and environmental feasibility study of projects, and the seventh dealt with legal feasibility, concluding the eighth chapter with the economic feasibility study from an Islamic perspective.  We hope that this book will perform its required role and achieve its goal of enriching the Arab academic economic library, enhancing the success of university study plans in the first and postgraduate stages in the faculties of economics and business administration in Arab countries, and enabling our students to improve their understanding of this important subject, which will help them achieve outstanding success in their studies and a strong entry into the labor market. The Center also hopes that this book will be helpful for professors in Arab universities to teach this subject more efficiently.
