The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Department of Science and Scientific Research) held, on July 16, 2025, the 9th meeting of the Permanent Advisory Committee on Scientific Research and Innovation. The meeting was held virtually, with the participation of the members of the Committee from across the Arab region.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Mohamed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research, started by conveying the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, to the Committee members, and his wishes for the success of the meeting. He emphasized ALECSO's commitment to advancing the system of scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the Arab world, so that it can best serve the sustainable development goals.

During the meeting, the Committee members were briefed on the progress of the Department’s activities scheduled for the years 2025–2026.  They also addressed the Committee’s work plan for the coming period, aimed at enhancing the role of scientific research in Arab countries and improving higher education and scientific research to better serve Arab societies.

Dr. Abu Darwish called on the Committee members to cooperate in implementing the Department’s projects and contribute their scientific and practical expertise.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of several recommendations and proposals by the Committee members, which will be considered in the 2026–2027 financial cycle.
