His Excellency Professor Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), paid an official visit to His Excellency Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, today, Monday 31 August 2026, at the headquarters of the League's General Secretariat in Cairo. The meeting addressed ways to continue strengthening cooperation and coordination between ALECSO and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, in support of the system of joint Arab action, particularly in the fields of education, culture and science, and to enhance integration among specialised Arab institutions and organisations.

During the meeting, His Excellency the Director-General gave a presentation on ALECSO's mission, programmes and initiatives, and highlighted its efforts in supporting the Arab states and developing educational, cultural and scientific systems, stressing the importance of enhancing coordination and integration between the Organization and the relevant sectors of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, so as to ensure greater unification of efforts and integration of initiatives.

A number of priority issues in joint Arab action were discussed, foremost among them the development of education systems and improving the quality of education, and the emphasis on the importance of investing in it as a fundamental lever for development and for building the future of the Arab states—by attracting Arab talent in the diaspora to strengthen scientific and academic research while preserving Arab identity in curricula.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was affirmed that consultation and coordination would continue between ALECSO and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, so as to strengthen the system of joint Arab action and respond to the priorities and future aspirations of the Arab states. On this occasion, His Excellency the Director-General presented the ALECSO shield to His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.
