His Excellency Professor Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), received today, Thursday 20 August 2026, at the Organization's headquarters in Tunis, Her Excellency Ms. Sharifa Nesreen Rabiaan, Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the Republic of Tunisia, within the framework of an official visit to ALECSO. The accompanying delegation included Lalla Aicha Al-Mashri, Assistant Refugee Status Determination Officer, and Ms. Rafika Khalifi, Senior Development Affairs Assistant at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The meeting was an occasion for discussion and the exchange of views on a number of issues and matters related to areas of common interest, and the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between regional and international institutions and organizations, in a way that serves common goals and supports the efforts aimed at consolidating the values of solidarity and protecting the most vulnerable groups.

His Excellency the Director-General welcomed Ms. Sharifa Nesreen Rabiaan, wishing her success in her duties, and affirming the importance of communication, coordination and the exchange of expertise between ALECSO and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, in a way that contributes to supporting the initiatives related to the Organization's areas of competence.

For her part, Her Excellency Ms. Sharifa Nesreen Rabiaan expressed her appreciation for the role of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization in serving the causes of education, culture and science in the Arab world, and her aspiration for further communication and cooperation in areas of common interest.
