On the sidelines of His Excellency the Director-General's participation in the International Forum for Planning and Development held in the State of Libya, His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mohamed Al-Dabib, received on Sunday, 28 June 2026, His Excellency Professor Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Director of the International Cooperation Office at the Ministry, within the framework of exploring ways to strengthen joint cooperation in the fields of higher education and scientific research.
His Excellency the Minister welcomed His Excellency the Director-General, affirming the importance of the partnership with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization, and its role in supporting education and scientific research systems in the Arab countries, and enhancing scientific and academic integration among higher education institutions.
The meeting addressed the mechanisms for activating the Organization's programs and initiatives, and enhancing the participation of Libyan higher education institutions in its activities and projects, through the Libyan National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, in a way that contributes to developing the educational and research process, and to benefiting from the regional expertise and programs implemented by the Organization.
This meeting is an occasion to exchange views on the priorities of the coming phase, with emphasis on the importance of expanding the areas of cooperation, launching joint initiatives in the fields of scientific research, capacity building, and developing academic competencies, and enhancing the presence of Libyan universities and educational institutions in the programs and activities implemented by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).
For his part, His Excellency Professor Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar expressed his appreciation for the warm reception, affirming the Organization's keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and to support its efforts in developing the higher education and scientific research system, in a way that serves the shared objectives and enhances joint Arab action in the fields of education, culture and science, as well as in various sectors through the Libyan National Commission for Education, Culture and Science.
