H.E. Dr. Mohammed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, received, on June 26, 2026, Mr. Sharaf Ahmimed, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for the Maghreb.

The meeting addressed ways to strengthen cooperation and partnership between ALECSO and UNESCO in the fields of education, culture, and science. 

Both sides discussed opportunities to expand joint programmes and initiatives that address the priorities of Arab countries and contribute to advancing sustainable development. They also underscored the importance of continued coordination, consultation, and the exchange of expertise to enhance complementarity between the two organizations and support the implementation of projects of mutual interest across the Maghreb region and the Arab world.
