The Bureau for the Coordination of Arabization represents ALECSO in a high-level discussion session on Jerusalem as the title of a global narrative for peace

The Bureau for the Coordination of Arabization, representing the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), took part in the proceedings of a high-level discussion session in the city of Rabat, which centered on ways to fortify the civilizational status of Jerusalem and to reinforce its standing as a city of peace, under the slogan: "Jerusalem.. the title of a global narrative for peace", on 22-23 June 2026 in the city of Rabat – Kingdom of Morocco.

This session was held with a significant attendance that included His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication; His Excellency Dr. Abdeljalil Lahjomri, Permanent Secretary of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco; His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Salem Al-Sharqawi, the Director in charge of managing the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency; and His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed Rachid El Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, alongside a select group of distinguished figures, experts, academics, and professionals.

This event, organized by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency in partnership with the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, comes within the framework of implementing the resolution issued by the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers designating Rabat as the capital of Arab media for the year 2026, and as an embodiment of the pivotal role played by the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in supporting the Palestinian cause.

In this context, Professor Dr. Mourad Al-Rifi, Director of the Bureau for the Coordination of Arabization, delivered the address of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) on behalf of His Excellency the Director-General of the Organization, Professor Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar. Professor Dr. Al-Rifi presented the Organization's vision on the importance of formulating a "well-crafted global narrative" for Jerusalem, emphasizing the need to adopt a cultural approach based on a set of practical foundations, the most important of which are:

  1. Employing heritage, literature, and the arts as tools to re-emphasize the human dimension of the city, and shifting from managing conflict to building a human coalition that makes difference a source of enrichment.
  2. Affirming the religious and cultural pluralistic character of Jerusalem as a cradle of Islamic, Christian, and Jewish holy sites.
  3. The necessity of achieving justice that vindicates the victims and redresses the harms, as an essential gateway to coexistence.
  4. Enhancing the role of peace advocates in various parts of the world to create cultural spaces that counter the discourse of extremism and hatred.

Professor Dr. Mourad Al-Rifi concluded the Organization's address by commending the efforts of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency and its partners, stressing that culture remains a "soft power" that does not substitute for political and legal realities, but is an essential means to correct deviant courses and to press toward achieving a just and sustainable peace that opens up horizons of shared coexistence.
