With great sorrow and grief, His Excellency Professor Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization, mourns the great Arab artist Hany Shaker, who passed away today, Sunday 03 May 2026, after an artistic career full of giving and creativity.

The deceased was one of the most prominent symbols of authentic Arab singing, and with his sweet voice and distinguished performance he contributed to enriching the Arab cultural and artistic scene, leaving an immortal legacy that will remain present in the conscience of generations.

As the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization mourns this great artist, it recalls with reverence his role in preserving Arab artistic identity and enhancing aesthetic taste, and it extends its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to his noble family and to the artistic and cultural community in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Arab world.

May God have mercy on the deceased and grant him a place in His spacious paradise. Indeed, to God we belong and to Him we shall return.
