Director General
H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, participated, virtually, on October 20, 2025, in the opening session of the 2nd “International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and its Applications in the Age of Digital Transformations” (I2COMSAPP’25), organized by the University of Nouakchott, Mauritania, with broad participation from researchers and experts from around the world.
The opening session was attended by the President of the University of Nouakchott, Dr. Ali Ould Mohamed Salem El-Boukhary, along with representatives from strategic partners including COMSTECH, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Mauritanian Ministry of Digital Transformation, Innovation and Public Sector Modernization, and the Mauritanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
In his opening remarks, the Director-General emphasized the importance of developing national capabilities in the fields of artificial intelligence and digital transformation. He stressed ALECSO's role in supporting Arab countries in building integrated national digital strategies that foster education, research, and innovation. He highlighted ALECSO’s initiatives in this regard, including the ALECSO Charter on AI Ethics.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT at ALECSO, participated as member of the Conference Committee. He also delivered a presentation during a session dedicated to the future of artificial intelligence in education and scientific research.
The Conference was designed to showcase the latest research and innovations in the fields of artificial intelligence, smart education, Internet of Things (IoT) systems, Cybersecurity, and deep learning. It featured the participation of representatives from universities and research centers across Europe and the Arab world, including the University of Geneva and Robert Gordon University, along with “Google” from the United States.
The Conference concluded on October 22, 2025, with an awards ceremony and the presentation of recommendations aimed at supporting Mauritanian AI projects and connecting them with incubation and innovation programs to enhance the environment for scientific research and digital entrepreneurship.
