ALECSO Statement on Palestinian Land Day

On the occasion of Palestinian Land Day, observed annually on March 30, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) reaffirms the profound significance of this occasion in the Arab collective conscience, given its historical and national importance as a reflection of the Palestinian people’s enduring attachment to their land, identity, and legitimate rights.

This commemoration recalls a pivotal moment in the history of the Palestinian Cause, dating back to the mass uprising of 1976, which embodied a clear rejection of land confiscation policies and a steadfast commitment to defending Palestinian rights.

ALECSO affirms that land remains a central pillar of the Palestinian Cause, carrying deep historical, cultural, and human dimensions, and constituting the very foundation of Palestinian national identity.

ALECSO further reiterates that the rights of the Palestinian people—foremost among them the right to self-determination—are inalienable and firmly established under international law and conventions.

ALECSO calls upon the international community, with all its components, to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities and to take effective action toward creating the necessary conditions for the Palestinian people to attain their freedom and independence, with Al-Quds as the capital of their State.
