On February 14, 2026, H.E.  Mr. Hamza Abdi Barre, Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, honored H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO. He presented him with the Medal of Merit in recognition of his valuable efforts and significant contributions to advancing joint Arab action and enhancing Somalia’s presence in Arab cultural and educational fora.

This tribute reflects the high official regard for ALECSO’s role in promoting development and knowledge across the Arab world, as well as its continued support for the Somali government’s efforts in the fields of education, culture, and science.
