[Auto-translated content] The Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) announced on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the launch of the Arab Opera Platform, which aims to be the first digital reference for Arab opera houses, programs and activities, as well as documenting Arab operatic productions and presenting them to the public in various Arab countries. The platform was announced during the activities of the First Arab Opera Festival, hosted by Katara, with the participation of opera houses and artists from 15 Arab countries, within the framework of enhancing cultural cooperation and developing the opera industry in the region. ALECSO also revealed that Katara was chosen as the “City of Arab Opera” in recognition of its efforts to support the musical arts and the opera industry, and for its contributions to celebrating and nurturing the Arab cultural and artistic heritage. The new platform seeks to unify Arab efforts in this fine art, by collecting and documenting performances, festivals and training courses, in a way that contributes to spreading Arab operatic culture, expanding its audience base, and providing greater opportunities for Arab artists and authors to present works that reflect the Arab musical and dramatic identity. ALECSO and Katara stressed that this initiative represents a strategic step towards building an integrated Arab opera system, enhancing the status of high arts in the Arab world, and stimulating creativity and cultural exchange between Arab countries in this field.
