H.E. Dr. Ghassan Salamé, Minister of Culture of the Lebanese Republic, received, on July 28, 2025 at the Ministry's headquarters in Beirut, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, along with his accompanying delegation.

The meeting explored ways of strengthening cooperation between ALECSO and the Lebanese Ministry of Culture in pursuit of shared goals.

The Minister commended the fruitful cooperation between both parties, and stressed the Ministry’s readiness to work toward further enhancing this collaboration to encompass a number of priority activities to be agreed upon in the future. One of the main points discussed was Lebanon’s leadership in a joint Arab nomination file for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage.

For his part, the Director-General thanked the Minister for this meeting which offered an opportunity to share ideas and visions on cultural issues of mutual interest. He expressed ALECSO’s readiness to implement priority cultural programs in Lebanon and to benefit from the Lebanese expertise in the Organization’s fields of work.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Director-General extended an invitation to the Minister to visit ALECSO’s headquarters and learn more about the Organization’s programs and activities.

The meeting was attended, on the Lebanese side, by Dr. Ali Al-Samad, Lebanon’s representative to the ALECSO Executive Board.
