Conference 04: "Higher Studies and Scientific Research in the Arab World", Damascus, Syrian Arab Republic, 1989

The conference discussed the subject of postgraduate studies and scientific research in the Arab world and ways to advance them. The recommendations called for developing policies directed towards postgraduate studies and scientific research in the Arab world, particularly with regard to pursuing the expansion of establishing postgraduate departments to meet development needs for specialized senior cadres, providing the requirements of postgraduate studies and scientific research, strengthening relations between scientific research bodies and the productive and service sectors, and building an information and data system that meets the purposes of scientific research, benefits from international information centres, and helps in knowledge management in terms of production, use and dissemination.
