The conference's directions and recommendations covered many topics, the most important of which was the proposal to form a founding committee to study the establishment of an Arab institution for quality assurance and accreditation in higher education. Proposing the establishment of an Arab network to coordinate between national accreditation bodies, and urging those countries that do not have them to establish their own national accreditation bodies, and giving the Arabic language the necessary attention while not neglecting other languages, and for the organization to study this matter carefully and develop a practical program within this framework. Establishing mechanisms for selecting senior leaders for universities and higher education institutions in order to achieve the principle of competitiveness. Calling for the development of an integrated strategy to develop excellence and creativity among general education students as an entry point to higher education. And calling for achieving integration between general education and higher education in educational curricula. Encouraging joint research that addresses Arab issues of common interest in the field of higher education and scientific research. Calling on Arab governments to review the service (retirement) systems for faculty members in higher education institutions in order to achieve the maximum benefit from their accumulated knowledge and experience that they have acquired. Calling on Arab countries to expand the electronic linking of Arab universities and research institutions, and to achieve effective communication with their counterparts, at the regional and global levels. Enhancing the competencies of faculty members in universities and higher education institutions through sustainable professional development.
