The Emirates (UAE) is a federal Arab country located in the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula in southwest Asia. It overlooks the southern shore of the Arabian Gulf. It shares a maritime border to the northwest with the State of Qatar and the Arabian Gulf to the north; to the west it has land and maritime borders with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to the southeast with the Sultanate of Oman. It joined ALECSO in 1972.
