Jordan is an Arab country located in the southern Levant region of West Asia. It lies at the center of the Middle East, in the southern part of the Levant and the northern part of the Arabian Peninsula. It is bordered by Syria to the north, Palestine to the west, Iraq to the east, and Saudi Arabia to the east and south. It also overlooks the Gulf of Aqaba to the southwest, where the city of Aqaba faces the Red Sea, which is considered Jordan's only maritime outlet. It joined ALECSO in 1970 (founding member).
